Jamaica: A Weekend Away

written by | Posted on January 1st, 2009

Standard room accommodations at the Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort Hotel, Montego Bay are $231 per night dbl from Feb. 6 to April 2, 2009. The lowest rate of the year ($189) is available April 19 to June 25 and Aug. 14 to Dec. 22.

Sunset Resorts also has a long history on the island, though you wouldn’t know it from the results of the renovations at the all-inclusive Sunset Beach Resort & Spa. This year’s renovations added two new restaurants—Pimento, a Caribbean fusion restaurant with a casual atmosphere; and La Bella Vita, serving up Italian cuisine with a 5-course menu. The renovations also revamped the Sunset’s existing three restaurants, including the Asian fusion Silk Road Restaurant, Banana Walk buffet and Sunset Beach Grill.

But while the resort’s dining options may be the newest things on property, one of the most popular amenities is an old classic and also one of the most unique on the island. The Pirate’s Paradise Water Park, a hit with kids and adults alike, comprises two water slides, a 40-ft. high Pirate’s Plank Bridge, and the relaxing Blackbeard’s Lazy River encircling it all. While kids splash and slide the day away, adults can relax in a large jacuzzi, and teens can take advantage of arcade games and pool tables next door at the Pirate’s Cove Teen Center. The kicker: it’s all included, upping your clients’ vacation value even further. Rates at Sunset Beach Resort & Spa start at $260 per room per night sgl.
