No, Vilshofen, Germany does not celebrate Carnival in May. But the mayor and citizens of all ages of this charming Danube River town turned out with Bavarian band, song and dance, and full-party attire for the gala christening of the newest arrival in the AMAWaterways family, the 164-passenger AmaCerto.
Pictured (left to right—and not including the fairies) before the official breaking of the champagne bottle across the ship’s hull are: Christine Duffy, AmaCerto’s godmother and president of Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA); Rudi Schreiner, president and co-owner of AMAWaterways; and Kristin Karst, executive v.p. and co-owner.
And the luxury AmaCerto is one beautiful “baby,” whose birth certificate particulars include twin balconies in the majority of its staterooms and suites; a heated sun deck swimming pool with swim-up bar; fitness center and spa; a choice of restaurant venues that combine gourmet dining and free-flowing wine; a culture and activities program catering to the widest range of passenger interests and agilities, including Bites and Sights, a new Culinary Delights feature on select European itineraries.
AmaCerto cruises on the Danube and Rhine rivers, as well as Dutch and Belgium waterways on nine itineraries: The Romantic Danube; Melodies of the Danube; The Legendary Danube; Blue Danube Discovery; Magnificent Europe; Christmas Time Cruise; Legendary Jewish Heritage; Christmas on the Rhine, and next spring Tulip Time Cruise.
