New itineraries and new excursions—they’re all well and good, but it’s new ships that really show when a company is making strides in the marketplace. Avalon Waterways
The Ships
: Avalon Vista and Avalon Visionary are Avalon Waterways’ newest Suite Ships, each boasting Panorama Suites that feature wall-to-wall windows and staterooms up to 30 percent larger than the industry standard.

The Itineraries: The Avalon Vista sails three different itineraries along the Danube, including the 11-day Legendary Danube (from $1,839), the 13-day Blue Danube Discovery (from $2,249) and the 15-day Magnificent Europe (from $4,949). Meanwhile, Avalon Visionary will keep herself busy with the 8-day Romantic Rhine itinerary and a variety of Christmas cruises (from $1,849).

Costa Cruises
The Ship
: The 3,800-guest Costa Fascinosa has just recently joined Costa Cruises’ fleet, featuring the Samsara Spa, Grand Prix driving simulator and pool area with sliding glass roof.

The Itinerary: Through November, Costa Fascinosa will sail 7-day Ancient Treasures cruises from Venice to Bari, Italy; the Grecian cities of Olympia, Santorini and Rhodes, and Dubrovnik, Croatia, before returning to Venice. Oceania Cruises
The Ship
: The Riviera is Oceania Cruises’ new gem, offering space for 1,250 guests and lifestyle enrichment options including an Artist Loft and Bon Appetit Culinary Center for hands-on instruction.

The Itineraries: Cruising the Mediterranean with a bevy of itineraries through Nov. 3, the Riviera will offer 7-, 10-, 12- and 15-day cruises (from $1,799) beginning and ending in key cities including Athens, Istanbul, Venice, Barcelona and Lisbon, before making a trans-Atlantic journey in preparation for its 10-, 11- and 14-day Caribbean offerings which sail roundtrip from Miami (from $1,850).
