Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco in Montalcino, Italy has launched new guest programming designed to immerse guests in the rich cultural heritage of the region through a variety of new activities, on-property and off-property, including moonlight horseback riding tours, an authentic Tuscan grigliata (BBQ) in the property’s vineyard, and an intimate vegetable gardening class. The luxury resort, founded by Massimo and Chiara Ferragamo, is set on a 5,000-acre country estate surrounded by the Val d’Orcia’s hills in the Tuscan countryside. With this idyllic setting as a backdrop, guests can discover the authentic cultural traditions of the region by participating in activities such as a romantic horseback riding tour with the option to stop at a local osteria, or farmhouse, for a tasting of typical Tuscan delicacies; a rustic BBQ dinner, fire-roasted by the resort’s catering team in Castiglion del Bosco’s vineyard, accompanied by live music; or a hands-on vegetable gardening class, where guests learn techniques for cultivating fresh herbs and produce. Additional activities include a bike race along the famous L’Eroica racetrack in the countryside; a helicopter ride over the Val d’Orcia, with stops to sample local wines and enjoy a seafood lunch at a restaurant overlooking the Mediterranean Sea; and a historical walking tour of the nearby medieval town Montepulciano, which sits atop a hill in southern Tuscany. Room rates start at $963 per night. For more information, visit rosewoodhotels.com/en/castiglion-del-bosco.
