Liverpool

Fifty years ago, The Beatles appeared on “The Ed Sullivan Show” and began their invasion of North America. As Liverpool, the city where the band originated, celebrates this milestone in 2014, now is the perfect time for your clients to visit the UNESCO World Heritage city and experience Beatlemania firsthand.

The Beatles Story
To experience all things Beatles-related, recommend visiting The Beatles Story at Albert Dock, which explores the lives of the Fab Four: taking guests behind the scenes at Abbey Road Studios, on an underwater trip aboard the Yellow Submarine, to the Casbah Coffee Club and to a replica of the Cavern Club. The attraction features a program of constantly changing attractions and a “Living History” audio guide narrated by John Lennon’s sister, Julia.

Around Town
Fans of The Beatles and John Lennon will come together on Dec. 8 at the John Lennon Peace Vigil, a candlelit vigil at the European Peace Monument. The Beatles Story hosts the annual peace vigil at the monument, which attracts visitors who want to celebrate Lennon’s life and music.

Events commemorating The Beatles will continue in 2014 with the 50th Anniversary of The Beatles’ Civic Reception at Liverpool Town Hall on July 10, 2014. The Northern premiere of the film Hard Days Night will also premiere.

Starwood will enter the hotel scene in Liverpool next year with its mid-market brand Aloft Hotels.
