Design Hotels is expanding with two new properties in Oslo and Kiev.
THE THIEF opened Jan. 9 as the Oslo’s first waterfront hotel. The 9-story building on the islet of Tjuvholmen features 119 rooms including five 1-bedroom suites, with contemporary art in the rooms and public spaces. The rooms have balconies with views of the fjord, canals of Tjuvholmen, surrounding buildings or the museums. In-room amenities include free WiFi, Nespresso machines, his and hers wool slippers, and custom-designed bedrobes.
The hotel also features a restaurant, Fru K, serving up classic Norwegian cuisine with regional and organic ingredients; a library bar; a wine and champagne bar with rooftop service; and a spa and wellness area set to open in 2014.

Meanwhile, in Kiev, 11 Mirrors had its grand opening as the first member of Design Hotels in the Ukraine.
The 11-floor hotel is located next to the National Opera House and features 49 rooms and suites overlooking Kiev’s historical center. The rooms have dark wood accents, spa-inspired bathrooms, complimentary WiFi, and a minibar. On the first floor of the hotel, there is a lounge with a fireplace serving wine and cocktails, while on the mezzanine there is a restaurant and bar serving a continental breakfast buffet in the morning and European cuisine for lunch.
