THE AMENITIES: Guests dine in the Parrot Tree coffee house or Palapa Bar & Grill, and onsite is the Sante Spa & Wellness Center, offering specialty spa treatments as well as massage, facials and yoga. The resort faces a private lagoon oceanside and on the inland side of the villas is a 300-plus-ft., freeform pool. Additionally, a small marina has moorings for up to 20 berths.

THE SCENE: Roatan, of course, is a world-class diving destination, and at Parrot Tree the barrier reef starts 100 ft. offshore for scuba diving aficionados. On the other hand, guests can swim, snorkel and kayak in the lagoon; hike the nature trail and visit the tropical nursery; join aquatic aerobics classes and in the evening take local dance lessons. Guests can also take off to experience dolphin encounters, zipline canopy tours, iguana farm visits, horseback riding and deep-sea fishing.

THE RATES: Ultra Villas start at $179; Deluxe Villas at $239. Costs include a welcome cocktail, continental or a la carte breakfast, private transfers to and from the airport.
