UXUA Casa Hotel & Spa

As UXUA Casa Hotel & Spa in Bahia, Brazil, expands its spa and fitness center, it’s turning to the local Pataxo tribe for inspiration.

The five-star boutique hotel opened in 2009 and features 10 one- and two-bedroom designer casas, designed by a former creative director of Diesel. At Almescar Spa, named after a tree with sap used by the Pataxo tribe for its curative properties, the hotel uses the local tribe, farmers and artisans to help create the hotel bath amenities and spa’s treatment line.
