On Oct. 10, 2015, a fire occurred at Iberostar Tucan and Iberostar Quetzal in Mexico’s Riviera Maya, affecting common areas such as the lobby, restaurants and theater. All other areas including rooms were not affected.

Iberostar has begun recovery efforts in the affected areas and the hotel group says it will be able to fully assess the damages within one week. The goal is to have the hotels fully operational by mid-December, and once completed, guests will enjoy newly renovated areas.

Guests have been relocated from Iberostar Tucan and Iberostar Quetzal to the Iberostar Paraiso Complex as well as neighboring hotels.

Guests arriving at the hotels within the next week will be moved to the Iberostar Paraiso Complex. Travel agents who’ve booked future stays for their clients can contact the tour operators with whom they made the booking; tour operators have been notified.
