Starting Jan. 4, 2013, the resort transitions to an adults-only, LGBTQ-friendly environment with a diversification program that emphasizes providing an especially welcoming experience to the LGBTQ community.
“Historically speaking, Oasis has always offered a specific travel experience for a specific customer,” says Oasis spokesman Ruben Olmos. “Adults-only, entertainment focused, family-friendly—we have something for everyone. And in our diversity we find mutually beneficial ways to work with travel agents and bring new business by targeting new customer bases.”
That means raising awareness and sensitivity among the resort’s staff through special training programs, and reaching out to travel agents around the world to spread the word about a niche Oasis is keen to cater to. According to the 16th Annual Gay and Lesbian Tourism Study, compiled by Community Marketing, Inc., from an analysis of more than 100,000 responses from gay and lesbian survey takers, “Gay men and lesbians travel more, own more homes and cars, spend more on electronics, and have the largest amount of disposable income of any niche market.”
CMI describes the LGBTQ community as “a dream market for the tourism industry.”
Oasis, determined to deliver a top-quality travel experience to a variety of vacationers, is listening.
At Oasis Sens—a five-star, adults-only, all-inclusive resort—guests enjoy a romantic atmosphere with a focus on all things lush and sensual. Olmos says $45 million was recently invested in the Oasis Resorts in Cancun, with $7 million going to revitalize Sens.
