Commission, Contests and Agent Advantages

The Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac.

The Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac is one of the six properties included in Fairmont Hotels & Resorts' current East Canadian booking contest.

Last week you saw our Forty-Five FAMs story—this week we’re keeping the agent profit train rolling with a (not quite as extensive) list of upped commission, contests, marketing, e-learning and social networking to keep your business moving.

Give Me More
If you’re going to make a commission anyway, you may as well be sure to get the biggest one possible. And boy, oh boy, Lighthouse Bay Resort in Barbuda is willing to give it to you.

The property’s All in the Family Together Reunion package provides families of up to 23 members their own private island “buyout” for seven days. Only accessible via helicopter or water taxi, the island promises exclusivity and relaxation along its 17 miles of pink sand beaches. The resort itself, meanwhile, promises comfort with a private pool and nine suites equipped with flat-screen TVs, WiFi Internet, personal laptops and iPads for guest use while on property.

In addition to exclusive use of the island, the package includes all meals, drinks and activities for all members of the group including a day charter complete with lunch, snorkel and sail gear; one hour of horseback riding; a group cooking class with the property’s executive chef; beach barbecue and bonfire. A personal photographer will also be on hand throughout the week to create a commemorative photo album.

The All in the Family Together Reunion package is available through Aug. 12 with all-inclusive rates starting at $38,999 per night, with a 6-night minimum…which means you can make a commission of up to—we hope you’re sitting down—$23,399. For more information, call (888) 214-8552 or visit lighthousebayresort.com.

Offering your clients a more budget-friendly option, Vacation ExpressPrestige Package Upgrade (PPU) provides your clients an incredible package deal while getting you an increased commission.

Available only at select properties in Mexico and the Caribbean, PPU packages include room upgrades and extras such as spa treatments, romantic dinners, a bottle of wine and flowers in room, resort credits and welcome gifts. Designated PPU hotels include Palace Resorts, Real Resorts and Omni Cancun in Mexico; Sunset Resorts in Jamaica, Renaissance Resorts in Aruba and Elite Island Resorts in Antigua.

Commission is available at 15 percent when booking designated PPU hotels on vacationexpress.com, or 20 percent when booking on the recently launched vepremier.com.

The PPU package generally requires a 3-night stay, although the requirement varies by property. Rates start at $99 per night. For more information, call (800) 309-4717 or visit vacationexpress.com.

And of course you know to claim your commission on hotel bookings, but what about sightseeing? If you’ve got clients headed to London for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee or the summer Olympics, you’re all set thanks to Leisure Pass Group’s London Pass.

The London Pass provides discounted admission to over 55 tourist destinations, including St. Paul’s Cathedral, ZSL London Zoo, the Churchill Museum & Cabinet War Rooms and the Tower of London. Plus, in addition to the included priority access to avoid long lines, the London Pass also comes with a free guidebook and more than 40 additional deals and discounts.

Standard day passes are $54.50 for adults or $36.25 for children, with savings available when purchasing passes for multiple days. For more information, visit londonpass.com.

If it’s a contest that gets you in gear, consider Fairmont Hotels & Resorts new promotion scheme for six of its East Canadian properties, built to reward top-booking members of its Famous Agents education program.

Through Dec. 31, three top-performing agents will be chosen each quarter for first, second and third place in the top city center bookings category and the top resort property bookings category. First prize winners will receive a $300 gift card, second prize a $200 gift card and third prize a $100 gift card. Then, based on combined actualized room revenue, a grand prize winner will be rewarded with a 5-day vacation at the participating property of their choice, including buffet breakfast, dinner, and local excursions. Quarterly prizes will be distributed in July 2012, October 2012 and January 2013, before rewarding the grand prize winner in February 2013.

The contest is valid on bookings made at Fairmont properties including The Fairmont Queen Elizabeth, Montreal; Fairmont Chateau Laurier, Ottawa; Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello, Quebec; Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac, Quebec City; Fairmont Tremblant, Quebec and Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu, Charlevoix through Dec. 31.
