You know what’s cooler than fitting in? Standing out—and that’s something that Coast Hotels & Resorts properties do well.
Though Coast Hotels & Resorts is a national brand—with 12 properties spanning five states—each one of those hotels receives the care and attention of a boutique resort…meaning each has its own history, quirks and personality.
The collection includes three- and four-star properties in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington. Yes, they all are based in locations convenient for travelers, with easy access to restaurants, theaters, local sightseeing attractions and major airports…but beyond that, each also offers something a little different from the next.
Alaska & Hawaii
These two properties may be a little harder to get to than their 10 sister properties, but they’re well worth the travel. At the inviting Coast International Inn in Anchorage, AK, guestrooms are welcoming with pillow-top mattresses, complimentary WiFi Internet and flat-screen TVs. Those looking to partake in the area’s excellent outdoor sports will enjoy nearby ski resorts and glacier treks, while sportsmen will enjoy the hotel’s walk-in hunting and fishing freezer. ($89)
Or leave the snow behind at idyllic Maui Coast Hotel in Kihei, Maui, HI, where ocean breezes are a guarantee. Here, guests enjoy outdoor swimming pools and complimentary bicycle use, perfect for a family trip to explore surrounding attractions, which include the Maui Ocean Center, Pa’ia Town, and Hana Cultural Center & Museum. Shopping and golf are both very popular activities in Kihei, too, so be sure to bring the right shoes for the occasion. ($160)
California, Oregon & Washington
In Santa Barbara, CA, the West Beach Inn, a Coast Hotel features just 41 guestrooms just steps away from the beach. Guests can get into the overabundance of watersports available just outside their doors, such as yachting, or stick to land with their choice of golf courses, zoos, museums and botanical gardens.
The historic Benson, a Coast Hotel, in Portland, OR, is getting ready to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2013. Over the past century, The Benson has hosted every U.S. President since William Taft (whose term lasted from 1909-1913). Now, the property merges history with technology, with updated European accents throughout the property and Tempur-Pedic beds, HDTVs and high-speed wireless Internet. Nearby, guests enjoy upscale shopping alongside entertainment outlets including the Oregon Ballet Theater, Oregon Symphony and Portland Center for Performing Arts. ($175)
And the modern The Paramount Seattle, a Coast Hotel in Seattle, WA, features the Dragonfish Asian Cafe, offering Pan Asian cuisine and a wide selection of specialty drinks and cocktails. Guestrooms show off the city through large picture windows, while guests are cozy inside with their LCD TVs, complimentary Internet and daily delivery of USA Today. ($189)

12 in 2012
The number of U.S.-based properties, the year—it seems almost like it was written in the stars that 2012 would be a big year for Coast Hotels & Resorts (and no, it doesn’t have anything to do with the Mayan baktun).
Since the brand’s recent rebranding, which was completed in May 2012, all 12 properties have been participating in the 12 in 2012 promotion, which rewards three guests randomly per month at each property with either a free room upgrade, an overnight stay for $12 or 1,200 Coast Reward bonus points. In addition, all guests of the 12 U.S.-based Coast Hotels & Resorts properties who have stayed for any length of time between May 1-Dec. 21 will be entered for a grand prize of two free nights at each of the 12 properties, making for a total of 24 free nights to be used during 2013.
