Recommend’s Associate Editor had a chance to sneak away from the office for a little indulgence at the Turnberry Isle Miami, where she got pampered at the resort’s four-star Turnberry Isle Spa.
This oasis, which has an annual ranking on Conde Nast Traveler’s “World’s Best Spas” list, didn’t disappoint. The Turnberry Isle Spa, which is 25,000 sq. ft. of tranquil space, features 21 private treatment rooms; a 3,560-sq.-ft. fitness center with aerobics and indoor cycling studios, weight and cardio rooms; and a Spa Cafe serving light, healthy fare. Though we were definitely not there for a workout, the fitness center was quite impressive.
We had the chance to get pampered with the Themae Ceremony treatment, which is a full face and body treatment that combines a body massage with a Hydration Strategy-Brilliance facial. This treatment also includes a Themae Welcome Ritual, a foot bath and light massage, where water is poured over your feet from a water pitcher while they rest in a porcelain bowl. This welcome ritual is included in all treatments that are over 50 minutes. If your client is looking for 80 minutes of total relaxation, suggest they try this treatment.
“Turnberry is the first spa in the U.S. to provide services by Themae,” says Tammy Pahel, spa director. “[Turnberry] launched Themae a month ago. Guests can look forward to enjoying cultural-themed Themae massages and facials.” Themae is a tea-based product line incorporated in the treatments, which are done in the style of the Kerala masseurs, who have given gentle and effective massages for generations.
