celebrations St. Regis Monarch Beach is made for celebrating something, anything: an anniversary, a wedding, a life. The resort’s lovely manicured Grand Lawn makes you think of children laughing and acrobats flipping across the grass, smoothie stations every few yards, and a big poofy (in a good way) wedding gown. But then you visit the Wine Room and conjure a more intimate affair, a birthday maybe, with 20 close friends and relatives opening bottle after bottle of award-winning wine amid stone walls while you dine on a duo of duck foie gras in red wine and spices, butter-poached Maine lobster and a stunning St. Regis-born cake made to your liking.
There are lots of in-between venues, as well: a smaller-sized Pacific Lawn for enjoying the local weather and a bit more privacy than in the Grand Lawn, or ballrooms that share a jaw-dropping staircase rotunda for a show-stopping entrance, or the resort’s Botanical Garden, which overlooks the ocean and features a white marble gazebo. St. Regis Monarch Beach is not one to shy away from tall demands or challenges—they’ve pretty much seen it all. “We’ve had couples arriving in glass carriages,” says catering sales manager Tiffany McGovern. “We’ve had grooms coming in atop elephants for Indian ceremonies. And camels—we’ve had camels.” Guests don’t feel overwhelmed by the size of the resort because they can choose any number of rooms away from any other hubbub. In fact, this grand resort has so many options that they can hold up to three weddings per weekend, with each couple not aware of the others. And we have to say it: the sky’s the limit here.
Clients can experience the resort with The Best Address for Golf and Spa (rate code Getaway 1)—he can choose to hit the golf course while she gets a $180 credit at the decadent, award-winning Spa Gaucin, or they can hit either together. This package starts at $745 per night through Dec. 31.
The Starwood Spa Collection Welcome Package is good for a 2-night minimum stay and comes with a Welcome Wellness basket, daily continental breakfast for two, a 50-minute treatment at Spa Gaucin for two guests, and 4 p.m. late check-out (code SC8). Call for rates.
