Mini Explorers Flex Their Muscles at Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve
Fitness-minded kids can participate in their own wellness retreat at Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, in Ubud, Indonesia, where a new nature-based activity program specifically tailored for mini explorers recently debuted. Tucked away amidst verdant rice paddies, the expansive Mandapa Camp facility includes an organic garden, a Kid’s Hut, and an educational farm where young explorers can take care of the resort’s cow, chickens, ducks and rabbits. The new immersive Mini Explorers at Mandapa Camp program offers children a chance to learn new skills, make new friends, and take part in a wide range of creative activities. For instance, the camp’s new A Taste of Healing Traditions half-day journey highlights Ubud’s spiritual tradition of yoga through a demonstration, where an instructor will teach five basic yoga poses, followed by a make-your-own healthy breakfast class. After harnessing their inner chi, campers are led on an excursion in the organic garden, where they will forage, taste, and learn about the health benefits and cooking methods of various vegetables and herbs. At the end of the day, children participate in a workshop on natural plant dyes, followed by a class on creating their very own Balinese herbal drink, Jamu.

While their kids play, parents can participate in their own individually tailored spiritual, wellness and health program, or explore the area’s ancient stone carvings, scenic plantations, and rich cultural traditions. Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, the third property in the prestigious Ritz-Carlton Reserve portfolio, opened last September and features 60 luxurious suites and villas, four restaurants and lounges, and a Mandapa Spa. Rates for a Reserve Suite start at $570 per night in the low season; $670 in the high season. Rates for a 1-bedroom Pool Villa start at $850 in the low season; $1,050 in the high season.
