Royal Caribbean International is revitalizing the atrium aboard its Splendour of the Seas, with plans to incorporate aerial performances alongside the latest in sound and light technology. Two glass elevators will feature large LED panels across their entire length, providing a backdrop of moving visuals five stories high, while the centralized Champagne Bar will be reinvented as the R Bar, featuring a 1960s vibe complete with iconic furnishing and signature cocktails.
“Guests sailing aboard Splendour of the Seas will be in for a multi-sensory experience that puts them at close proximity to amazing aerial performers from multiple viewpoints in a sophisticated and glamorous atmosphere,” says Lisa Bauer, senior vice president of hotel operations at Royal Caribbean International.
The 60-ft.-high area will become a gathering space for a variety of events, from cocktail parties and the Captain’s Corner meeting, to interactive daytime activities such as chef demonstrations, game shows, Nintendo Wii competitions, as well as multi-sensory evening performances and dance parties.
