Silversea Cruises is offering a new West Africa cruise next spring, giving guests the opportunity experience the Ghanese culture, learn about the country’s history, and meet the people. The 16-day sailing departs March 16, 2016 from Tema, Ghana to Barcelona aboard the Silver Cloud. As a special bonus, guests can book a 6-day Accra & the Ashanti Kingdom pre-cruise land adventure where they’ll be able to participate in the Festival of Akwasidae—an annual celebration held at the royal palace of Kumasi to honor the Ghanese people’s ancestors and the Ashanti king. The Accra & the Ashanti Kingdom land adventure also features a hands-on workshop where participants can learn how the traditional adinkra textile (a traditional hand-painted fabric used by royalty in religious ceremonies) is made. Additional ports of call include Las Palmas, Arrecife, Agadir, Casablanca, Gibraltar, Cartagena and Valencia. Rates start at $3,979 pp, including a 2-night stay at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, a 3-night stay at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Kumasi, daily breakfast, five lunches, four dinners, and all ground transportation.
