Panama Unexpected was the theme of this visit to Panama’s elegant Westin Playa Bonita, located on the beachfront just outside Panama City. Contributing writer Steve Grasso visited the resort and explored the unexpected side of Panama—such as a visit to the historic Church of the Black Christ in Portobelo, a look behind the scenes at the workings of the Panama Canal, and a tour of the Casco Viejo district led by former gang members.
