R. Crusoe & Son will be taking travelers on small-group tours led by experts to Japan and Russia during the first tours of the year, part of a series of nine Hosted Journeys.

The 11-day Japan Hosted Journey departs May 11 with stops in Kyoto, Nara, the Iya Valley, and Naoshima Island. Led by R.Crusoe’s senior Asia Expert and Japan resident Alex Kerr, the tour gives travelers special access to places not open to the public, with a hands-on lesson in traditional Japanese arts; a visit to Zen rock gardens; a tempura dinner with a  geisha show; and private visits to art studios and galleries. The 12-day Russia Hosted Journey is hosted by Alina Kuznetsova, who was born and raised in St. Petersburg, and focuses on St. Petersburg and Moscow. The tour departs May 8 and the group will stay in five-star hotels and sample traditional Russian food in St. Petersburg. Some of the special access on this itinerary include a private tour of the Kremlin and its Armory and Diamond Fund; a visit to a monastery that is now a UNESCO site to have lunch with the resident monks; and dinner with a Russian family.

Rates start at $11,980 pp dbl land-only for the Japan tour and $11,850 pp dbl land-only for the Russia tour. The tour rates include breakfast; some additional meals; airport transfers; sightseeing; local wine and beer with included meals; hotel taxes; entrance fees to museums and other attractions on the itinerary; baggage handling at the hotel; and gratuities.
