Norwegian Cruise Line has announced the inventive plans for its newest ship, Norwegian Breakway, which call for the addition of a shaded outdoor shopping and dining strip called The Waterfront.

Designed to resemble an oceanfront boardwalk, The Waterfront will offer eight outdoor dining and lounging options just alongside the ship’s glass railings, providing 180-degree views of the ocean. Plans for the area include a gelato bar, an entertainment venue, and a new seafood-only restaurant concept, Ocean Blu on The Waterfront, which will include a raw bar and sushi bar.

Also new to the ship will be its renamed atrium, now called 678 Ocean Place. Here, guests will find all of the standards: themed restaurants featuring open kitchens, lantern-lit terraces or Japanese rock gardens; shopping; photo gallery; nightclubs and lounges; casino; and game room.

With a launch date set for April 2013, Norwegian Breakaway will sail year-round from New York City visiting Bermuda in the summer, and the Bahamas & Florida or the Caribbean in the winter.
