Enchanting Nuptials American-Style

written by | Posted on May 29th, 2012

From the sizzle of the Las Vegas Strip to a classic Southern setting, we’ve fallen head over heels for five resorts that offer the perfect backdrop for an affair to remember.

Wedding at Barnsley Gardens estate in Georgia.

bellagio, las vegas

The lights, the sounds, the shows, the Strip—Las Vegas is the quintessential destination for saying “I do” in the U.S., and we’re not just talking about the kitschy ceremony at the Little White Wedding Chapel with Elvis as the officiant. Here, resorts roll out the red carpet to offer an over-the-top event. Take the Bellagio, which offers a romantic-infused elegance similar to what one would expect to find in Tuscany (ok, we admit, we’re smitten with this resort).

Nuptials at Bellagio’s Terrazza di Sogno (Terrace of Dreams) provide a unique experience for up to 40 guests, with views of the Fountains of Bellagio and surrounding 8-acre lake. Right when the couple’s first kiss as husband and wife takes place, the resort’s famous Fountains erupt joyously to a song of the couple’s choosing—doesn’t get more “splashy” than that. Indoor weddings, meanwhile, are held in the East and South Chapels, which can accommodate as many as 25 and 130 guests, respectively.

And with Bellagio offering several wedding packages and different price points, it’s easy for you to help your clients—no matter their budget or wants—plan a wedding here. Take the Millennium package, for instance, priced at $6,800 and including 2-night deluxe accommodanorth tions, $150 spa or salon credit, bouquet and boutonniere floral package and live Internet broadcast of the ceremony. Or couples whose pockets aren’t as deep can choose the Deluxe package, which is $2,000, or the Just for Two package, priced at $1,500. Packages include all the basics including a wedding coordinator.

Standard rates for accommodations start at $149 per night plus resort fee, with discounts available for the bride and groom.

Why we chose it: Easily accessible, name recognition and a range of packages to fit any budget.

wheatleigh, massachusetts

Walking into the Old World elegance of Wheatleigh in Lenox, MA— just a 3-hour drive from New York City and two hours from Boston—it’s immediately obvious why the property is part of The Leading Hotels of the World collection. Built in 1893 and featuring custom-designed architecture and decor including Tiffany windows, sculpted fireplaces, arched doorways, columned patios and even a spiral staircase or two, Wheatleigh offers an idyllic New England setting.

Amidst 22 private acres, couples can opt to say “I do” in an outdoor sculpture garden, and then celebrate their newfound life together in the Great Hall and upper terrace. And although seated dinners in the main dining room and Portico can accommodate up to 150 guests, the staff at Wheatleigh can create ceremonies for as little as two persons (intimacy guaranteed).

Then again, with just 19 guestrooms and suites, couples can decide to have a “buy-out” affair—meaning exclusive use of the entire property and its luxurious amenities. Buy-out wedding weekends provide an onsite wedding coordinator, customized menus created by the executive chef specifically for the event, premium bar and wine selection, premium products used throughout and all service charges included. Plus, your clients can celebrate into the wee hours of the night with no ending time or after-hours fees.

Regular nightly rates at Wheatleigh start at $885 per night, with weekend “buy-out” rates starting at $16,000 per day.

Why we chose it: The ability to buy-out the property, guaranteed luxury and a rural setting not too far from the city.
