punta cana THE PROPERTY: The Punta Cana Resort & Club is home to two properties. The luxury boutique hotel Tortuga Bay is a recent recipient of the AAA five-diamond award for 2011. Oscar de la Renta designed its 30 suites set in 13 villas, where elegant furnishings and authentic materials mix with balconies and terraces that overlook La Cana Golf Course or the Caribbean Sea. In-suite, guests enjoy kitchenettes, large coral stone bathrooms with sunken jacuzzi bathtubs and separate showers. The recently refurbished Puntacana Hotel offers a choice of three types of accommodations for a total of 170 for those seeking a deluxe hotel experience. Beach casitas are a good choice for families or golf groups with two or three bedrooms.

THE GREENS: The par 72 La Cana Golf Course boasts a P.B. Dye design and 14 oceanview holes and four holes that play right on the beach. Tom Fazio’s par 72 Corales Golf Course, which launched in April 2010, has six oceanfront holes set between rocky cliffs, coral reefs and the Caribbean Sea. A second P.B. Dye-designed course, the inland par 72 Hacienda Golf Course, will open this year.

THE AMENITIES: Beyond golf, guests of both hotels can enjoy six Har-tru clay tennis courts, the magnificent beach and children’s club. An aquatic center offers a variety of watersports, while the Six Senses Spa features holistic therapies. There is also a full-service marina and shopping village.
