THE RATES: Rates start at $261 for the summer.
holetown THE PROPERTY: Don’t lump Mango Bay in with the majority of all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean, because this 76-room boutique property has a style all its own. Sure, meals and drinks are included in the room rates, but guests here won’t feel confined to the resort grounds. Transfers to Bridgetown run daily at no extra cost, and catamaran sailings are included, too. Not that clients will be itching to leave, with furnished balconies or patios just off each guestroom and upgrades to oceanfront rooms, 1-bedroom apartments and even penthouse suites that wrap around the upper floor of the main building, with separate living areas and panoramic ocean views.
THE GREENS: Sandy Lane’s courses sit just 10 minutes away, as does the course at the Royal Westmoreland. At Sandy Lane, Tom Fazio’s designs remain as challenging and picturesque as ever on both the Country Club, an 18-hole course boasting Caribbean views, and the Green Monkey, another 18-hole layout lined with exposed rock faces left over from the limestone quarry that once sat on this site. The Old Nine course offers a more historic experience on a course dating to 1961, with just nine holes assembled in a tight, demanding layout. Golfers willing to travel a bit farther can also play at the Barbados Golf Club in Christ Church parish, a par 72, 6,805-yard course that’s hosted events including the PGA European Tour and PGA Seniors Tournament.
THE AMENITIES: Mango Bay offers a more intimate vacation experience than other, larger resorts in the area, and its amenities follow suit. Its restaurant offers seating both indoors or out overlooking the ocean, offering Caribbean fusion cuisine. When the sun goes down, the restaurant turns into a center for entertainment, with live, local music each night, and you can pair the island rhythms with one of the bar’s signature tropical, top shelf cocktails. Its Elements Spa promises to “renew your inner glow” with a full host of treatments available and a promise of true exclusivity—the facility comprises only one treatment room.
THE SCENE: Clients staying here have access to all the upscale area offerings near Sandy Lane: great restaurants to check out, fancy resorts to explore. But Mango Bay also makes it easy for clients to explore another side of the island—the sea. Kayaks and snorkeling equipment are included in clients’ room rates, making it easy to discover the world beneath the waves. And its catamaran cruises and glass bottom boat rides give guests a better understanding of their surroundings, as seen from their most picturesque vantage point: the Caribbean Sea.
