the fairmont jasper park lodge

The Property: Situated amidst the awe-inspiring Canadian Rockies in a UNESCO World Heritage site in Alberta, Canada, The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge resort is a village of heritage log cabins connected by picturesque paths, and surrounded by incredible views of the mountains and the emerald-green Lac Beauvert. The signature cabins are the way to go here: from the cozy and romantic 1-bedroom Honeymoon Cabin to the sprawling 8-bedroom, wildlife-themed Milligan Manor.

The Greens: Stanley Thompson, Canada’s master golf course architect, designed this award-winning, 18-hole, par 71 course, which opened in 1925 and offers elevated tee boxes, dramatic bunkering and holes aligned with distant mountain vistas. Wide fairways carve through a thick forest, and pay homage to the environment’s natural contours, blending beautiful landscapes with challenging terrain, hugging snowcapped mountains, meandering past glacial-fed lakes and through a wildlife corridor featuring elk, caribou, bears and wolves.

The Amenities: The “extras” run the gamut here. There’s a newly restyled 10,000-sq.-ft. spa—with a design that takes its vision from the mountain vistas, forests and cool streams—offering treatments like a fir-infused stone massage. There’s also dining at restaurants with names like Tent City Pub, offering typical Canadian fare.

The Scene: Outdoor recreation fun abounds—from hiking and biking to wildlife viewing in such places as Athabasca Falls, Columbia Icefields and Maligne Canyon, as well as skiing and snowboarding on the Canadian Rockies. Adventurers will have their fill here as they go whitewater rafting, take a glacier ice-walk, go trout fishing, or take a dip in hot springs.

The Rates: The Jasper Golf for Free package includes accommodations (minimum 2-night stay); one round of golf per room per day (tee times after 11 a.m., subject to availability; tee times before 11 a.m., subject to a $30 pp surcharge); golf cart rental; use of practice facility; and club storage. Rates start from $349 CAD (approx. $351) per night dbl.
