BVI: Beauty on the Water

written by | Posted on November 1st, 2011

private island appeal BVI offers more private island resorts than any other Caribbean destination, says George. Peter Island Resort & Spa, located on the largest private island in BVI and another big seller for GOGO, has a new look for its secluded villas Hawk’s Nest and Crow’s Nest, including new furnishings, accessories and technology upgrades, such as high-definition TVs and iPod docking stations.

These special accommodations feature such treats as continuous balconies to take in the views of the hillside, the resort’s harbor and Deadman’s Bay at Hawk’s Nest, which has three bedrooms plus a 2-bedroom nanny’s apartment. The 4-bedroom Crow’s Nest, situated high above the main resort, provides panoramic views of the sea and surrounding Virgin Islands. There is also a third villa, and the most recent, which is six bedrooms and is called Falcon’s Nest.

Peter Island boasts 1,800 acres of luxury, privacy, and world-class snorkeling and dining. Watersports and exploring the natural beauty abounds. Besides the villas, the resort has 104 suites and all guests can enjoy the American Meal Plan as part of its all-inclusive rate. New for those arriving by yacht to the private island, marina guests can now take advantage of the amenities offered to overnight guests such as a 10,000-sq.-ft. spa, two restaurants and private dining options, and five private beaches.

The year 2012 will prove a profitable one for travel agents who book their clients at Long Bay Beach Resort & Villas, which sits on a 52-acre estate in Tortola. To reward travel agents, Elite Island Resorts is offering 15 percent commission for all bookings and additional bonus incentives. For example, for every seven nights booked agents receive one night free for their personal travel and for every 100 nights booked agents receive a $500 air credit. The property recently refurbished guestrooms overlooking the pool as well as made improvements to its tennis courts, pool deck, hot tub and kids’ pool. All changes are part of the resort’s continued efforts “…to please returning guests as well as welcome first time visitors to Long Bay,” says Steven Heydt, president of Elite Island Resorts.

Long Bay features a mile-long stretch of white sand, two restaurants and three bars. Guests can enjoy a fitness room, scuba-diving facilities, and the Spa Tranquility. Accommodations include a choice of guestrooms on the beach or hillside, cabanas, villas and even private estates with swimming pools and up to four bedrooms.

Two new 3-night packages in 2012 will make it easier to book the property. They include accommodations in a poolside oceanview deluxe room, breakfast daily, one day car rental, and either a one day sail for the Explore the BVI package or one, 2-tank dive for the DIVE package. Per couple rates start at $1,336 and $1,652, respectively.
