The Sands at Grace Bay

beyond the beach With so much to do and see in the surrounding area, The Sands’ location is another one of its great assets. Clients looking for an island adventure have plenty of options here, on land and at sea.

Scuba diving in the Turks & Caicos is a hit with beginners and experts alike, thanks to the islands’ crystal-clear waters and abundance of sea life. Providenciales is one of the country’s hottest scuba locales, too, thanks to the reef surrounding the island. At The Sands, guests can book scuba excursions with Ocean Vibes right at the front desk, and will be swimming alongside hawksbill turtles, manta rays, nurse sharks and tropical fish in no time.

Back on land, golfers have convenient access to the championship course at Provo Golf Club. Located within 10 minutes of The Sands and reputed to be one of the most challenging courses in the Caribbean, the course encompasses 12 acres of lakes and marsh, with environmental challenges like high winds further complicating the game.

At nightfall, guests’ entertainment options expand even further, with a thriving dining scene. Coco Bistro, sitting about a 20-minute walk from The Sands, is one of the best in the area, thanks to its lush outdoor garden ambiance and Caribbean fusion cuisine. Farther away, but well worth the trip, is the ultra-casual Da Conch Shack – essentially a beachside hut with some of the freshest seafood you’ll ever taste. The shallow sea behind the restaurant doubles as a sort of conch farm; order any conch dish – conch fritters, conch ceviche, fried conch – and chefs will pluck a conch out of the ocean, shuck it and serve it up on the spot.
