The Scene: The scene at JW Marriott is more sedate and serene than at other resorts in Las Vegas. If there were a scene at all it would be around the three pools. The largest, an 11,000-sq.-ft. grass-edged pool, features a waterfall and four 25-yard swimming lanes as well as private poolside cabanas.
Rates: Rooms range from $199 to $359 most nights. A Guys Golf- away package is a 3-night super vacation that runs through October and includes a 2-bedroom suite, airport transfers, in-room “Buddy Basket,” with choice of beer, pretzels and nuts, or wine and cheese, or golf caps and balls. lake las vegas The Property: Actually, there are three properties here, surrounded by three marquee courses and a 320-acre lake, all only 17 miles from the Las Vegas Strip. The Greens: Jack Nicklaus personally designed Reflection Bay, home of the nationally televised Wendy’s Three-Tour Challenge. The 7,261-yard, par 72 desert course has some exquisitely scenic vantages and uses the terrain’s natural contours to keep golfers on their toes. Highlights include the picturesque 199-yard, par 3 eighth hole. The Golf Institute at Lake Las Vegas Resort offers a number of half- to 3-day, small-group programs, as well as private lessons and video analysis. Participants can also receive personalized club fittings.
The Amenities: The Ritz-Carlton’s Tuscan-themed spa facility is a destination in its own right as a 30,000-sq.-ft. stand-alone complex with 24 treatment rooms and plenty of private relaxing nooks and crannies. Loews, meanwhile, is home to the 11-treatment room Spa Moulay. MonteLago Village is a meandering village of cobbled walkways, art galleries, wine bars and top-tier dining. Fair-weather weekends bring on plenty of events, from arts fairs and dine-arounds to summer concerts on the lake.
The Scene: Lake Las Vegas is somewhat a sleepy backdrop to the frenetic Strip, and nightclubs are not part of the mix.
