American Queen Steamboat Company announced its newest themed voyage aboard the American Duchess, Racing on the River, which will sail from Memphis to Pittsburgh from July 8-22, 2019.

On the itinerary guests will discover the charming attractions of quaint ports with racing-themed and history-filled shore excursions, which will culminate with the main event—a steamboat race between the American Duchess and the Belle of Cincinnati, the flagship vessel of BB Riverboats.

On the Racing on the River itinerary, which is inspired by the heritage of small towns and America’s steam boating history, guests will sail along the lower Mississippi, Ohio, and Tennessee Rivers while visiting 12 ports of call throughout the 16-day cruise. In addition, guests will also have the opportunity to take part in racing-themed shore excursions at each port such as a private tour of the Kentucky Derby Museum and a historic walking tour of the Churchill Downs Racetrack while in Louisville. Here, there will also be a one-time special event at the Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, as guests watch one of the most competitive races in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Circuit—the Quaker State 400.

While in Cincinnati, the steamboat race will take place. And, while visiting Maysville, guests are invited to join the American Duchess 3K Run-Walk special event with a conclusion at the Old Pogue Distillery, where runners will receive a complimentary post-race Bourbon Slush.

Rates for this sailing start at $1,199 pp including a 1-night, pre-voyage hotel stay, hop-on hop-off shore excursions at all ports, wine and beer with dinner, and other amenities.
