Avanti Destinations has announced the appointment of Mark Grundy as chief operating officer, reporting to Avanti’s president and CEO, Harry Dalgaard. Grundy joined the Portland, OR-based FIT tour operator as managing director of Asia in October 2015.
“In the space of two short years, Mark successfully developed, launched and then expanded our award-winning Asia program,” noted Dalgaard in a press release statement. “His appointment strengthens our executive team, joining Chief Financial Officer Susan Marra and Chief Marketing Officer John Hanratty.
“As COO, Mark is responsible for day-to-day operations. I am confident we are now more than ready to continue growing the business, while also maintaining high levels of customer service to our travel agent partners.”
With more than 20 years experience in the travel industry before coming to Avanti, Grundy served as president, and before that, senior vice president of Wendy Wu Tours, the UK’s leading tour operator to China. Previously, he co-founded Destination America, which was later acquired by Trafalgar Tours. Grundy began his career at American Tours International.
