For the first time in the hospitality companies’ history, Sandals Resorts International (SRI) and Marriott International, Inc. are partnering to introduce modern, design-driven, lifestyle brand AC Hotels by Marriott to the Caribbean.

“A partnership with SRI represents an important growth opportunity for Marriott International in the Caribbean,” says Alejandro Acevedo, v.p., development, Marriott International Caribbean and Latin America. “Given SRI’s extensive experience and strong relationships in the region, and the fact that it is well-established, financially solid and a recognized lodging company in the Caribbean, we are very pleased with this partnership. The AC Hotels brand will be an excellent addition to our existing portfolio in Jamaica, and helps us to continue to expand our presence in the Caribbean and Latin America, where we currently operate over 200 hotels across 20 brands.”

The partnership’s debut property, AC Hotel in Kingston, is scheduled to open winter 2019, and, according to SRI CEO and deputy chairman Adam Stewart, will feature 220 guestrooms, a full service restaurant and plenty of valet and self-serve options. AC Hotel Kingston is located in an expansive, mixed-use development, in the prestigious Jamaica House neighborhood that will also include a BMW showroom, a beauty and wellness salon, a car rental facility and “The Avenue”—an indoor and outdoor event space with retail and dining outlets including a fine dining sushi and seafood restaurant and a coffee bar. “The Avenue” will extend through to the hotel’s conference center with staging areas along the way to accommodate planned and impromptu concerts.
