Don’t drive through the Mea Shearim Orthodox Jewish section of Jerusalem between sunset on Friday and sunset on Saturday—to do so is to break the rules of the Sabbath.
- Men should wear a hat and women should cover their heads and their legs when visiting a synagogue.
- Don’t enter a mosque wearing shoes, and do take along appropriate modest clothing for visiting all religious shrines.
- In Christian churches, men should remove their head coverings and women should wear a head covering and should not enter wearing shorts or short skirts.
- Maintain a respectful demeanor when visiting all holy sites and remember that while they may be popular tourist attractions, they are also holy places of worship.
