In today’s fast-paced industry where technology is king, it’s more important than ever for travel agents to be tech-savvy and have a multitude of sales skills. And with information and new technology constantly emerging, continuing your education and training is not only imperative for learning new skills, it can enrich your career and increase your sales too. After all, your clients are becoming more knowledgeable and tech savvy every day and so should you. By attending ASTA’s Travel Retailing & Destination Expo, THETRADESHOW, taking place this year at the Las Vegas Convention Center Sept. 11-13, you will gain the essential knowledge and expertise to make your travel business more profitable.

ASTA’s Travel Retailing & Destination Expo is the premier conference education resource, providing seminars led by respected industry professionals. In fact, the event’s education program was designed by 20-year industry expert, Bruce Tepper CTC, MBA. Among this year’s educational seminars include “Maximizing Marketing Partnerships to Build Your Bottom Line”—an interactive discussion exploring how to make the most out of relationships with suppliers and non-competing businesses in your marketing plan; “Principles of Professional Selling”—helping you apply techniques to close more cruise sales; and “The Law is Changing the Way Travel is Sold-Are You Ready”—giving agents a comprehensive understanding of new trends.

This year’s event will also feature special tech seminars from NYU professor James Spellos, a certified Microsoft Office Specialist. Some of these include “Making Your Mark: Creating Your Own Online Brand to Boost Your Sales” and “Smart Phone…Smarter Travel,” which teaches what smart phones can do for your business.

Meanwhile, attendees of THETRADESHOW have the opportunity to diversify their partner relationships with agents and suppliers from over 45 countries, more than 200 companies on exhibit, and over 300 booths of buying opportunity. Additionally, the event offers the best of both worlds as registrants enjoy the benefit of networking with both agency owners/managers and home-based agents—the largest attendee groups—along with individual agents and consortia representatives.

The industry’s leaders will come together for two exclusive events only found at ASTA’s Travel Retailing & Destination Expo.  ASTA’s annual black-tie Advocacy Dinner, sponsored by Sabre Travel Network, which celebrates ASTA’s influence in shaping the policies affecting the retail travel business, and the new, invitation-only Leadership Luncheon, sponsored by Hertz Rent-a-Car, which will recognize the industry’s leading entities and ASTA’s strongest supporters.  The exclusive Leadership Luncheon, taking place on Sept. 12 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Las Vegas Convention Center, is a private event bringing together ASTA Premium Members, the Board of Directors, the Chapter Presidents Council and its proud partners in an environment where ASTA’s strongest backers can foster new relationships while expanding on existing ones.  Later that day, ASTA’s annual Advocacy Dinner will take place at 7 p.m. in the Cosmopolitan Hotel.

Now in its eighth year, the Advocacy Dinner is an exclusive, black-tie event bringing together elite travel agents, suppliers and industry players in recognition of ASTA lobbying efforts and legislative successes at the state and federal level. This year, this popular event will offer even greater opportunities for attendees to make contacts both prior to and following the dinner, thanks to the addition of a new networking dessert reception.
