ASTA will host its International Destination Expo 2012 (IDE) in Lima, Peru. The one-of-a-kind event, which will take place March 1-4, will feature four days of concentrated destination education to enable travel agents to become experts in selling South America by participating in an array of onsite learning and targeted events offering the best in networking, entertainment and sightseeing opportunities. Plus, travel agents who register by Nov. 5 will take advantage of special discounted rates.
Attendees of the International Destination Expo 2012 will have the opportunity to participate in a number of training seminars that take them beyond the classroom and give them real-life cultural experiences they can share with their clients, thanks to the immersion in local culture. Some of this year’s complimentary tours include a half-day city tour of Lima, a visit to the Larco Museum—featuring a display of archaeological treasures from Peru’s northern coast—and a full-day excursion to Pachacamac—the most important Incan administrative and religious center on the Peruvian coast—to see the famous Pasco horses. Meanwhile, agents can also participate in a number of educational seminars at this year’s IDE, as well as a tradeshow that will feature a host of local and international suppliers on-hand to provide insight on the latest tours, marketing opportunities and client prospects. There will also be plenty of networking events such as the International Travel Agents Summit.
