Celebrity Silhouette

Pampering is intrinsic to a Celebrity Cruises experience and when it’s the cruise line’s newest ship, Celebrity Silhouette, you know there will be plenty of special extras and moments. First-rate spas have long been a standard for Celebrity Cruises—the line has consistently been singled out in Recommend’s 2011 Readers’ Choice Awards as “Best Cruise Line for Spa.” And indeed, pairing cruising and spas is another way to sell the new Celebrity Silhouette to spa-loving clients as they will find much on board devoted to their mindset.

Aquaclass Staterooms

As the fourth Solstice-class ship, Celebrity Silhouette was built with many spa-like features. To start, book clients into an AquaClass stateroom, which have been designed for spa enthusiasts. There are 130 AquaClass staterooms (found on Deck 11) conveniently located close to the onboard spa, many with direct access. These staterooms are comfortably sized at 192 sq. ft., with 52-sq.-ft. verandahs. They feature sitting areas with couches and nice-sized bathrooms with Hansgrohe shower panels in the showers.

AquaClass stateroom guests are treated to a host of amenities related to pampering and the spa. En-suite extra amenities include Frette robe and slippers and expanded personal care products including a spa kit with foot spray, lip balm and relaxation mist— all designed to make you feel a little special each day. Complimentary bottled water and a carafe of flavor-infused iced tea can be found en-suite, and a pillow menu enables guests to ensure a good night’s sleep. For AquaClass en-suite entertaining, guests can choose from an upgraded room service menu and there is in-stateroom entertainment and an exclusive library of wellness books to get you in the right state of mind.

Another strong selling feature of the AquaClass stateroom is guaranteed complimentary dining in Blu, an intimate specialty restaurant seating only 130 created just for AquaClass guests. It serves healthy “clean” cuisine, what the restaurant defines as “classic favorites” like grilled New York strip, salmon and chicken breast. The food delivers what it promises, with true quality meat and produce without any heavy sauces. An added bonus is that Blu also serves as an exclusive spot for AquaClass and Suite guests to enjoy continental breakfast from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. daily.

The AquaSpa Cafe in the spa is also open for breakfast and lunch featuring fresh fruit smoothies, soups, salads, seafood and lean meats as another alternative for those seeking to watch their calorie intake.

Beyond the stateroom, AquaClass guests have unlimited access to the AquaSpa relaxation room and Persian Garden. This space is a haven for relaxation, with individually heated mosaic lounges that overlook the water and are made for taking the time to do nothing but breathe, close your eyes or read a book. There are also grottos and chambers that release aromatherapy-infused dry heat, steam, and mists into the air.

Celebrity Silhouette also has a Solarium featuring an indoor pool and hot tub, separate from the two outdoor pools and four hot tubs—another wonderful space to relax that is also adults-only.

Spa Time

AquaClass guests can take advantage of a spa concierge to arrange AquaSpa treatments during their cruise. New to Celebrity Silhouette is the Spa Vibes program, which allows each guest to personalize their face or body treatment choosing elements that will stimulate each of the senses, including treatment room lighting, scent and sound. The list of treatments is extensive and some of the signature ones include a 24 Karat Gold Facial using medicinal plants, rose quartz, and a pure 24 karat gold leaf mask. There is also a complete Medi-Spa, a hot new trend among land spas, and guests can take their time on the cruise to even get botox. There is also a full-service salon for manicures, pedicures and hair styling.

The signature Thai Herbal Poultice Massage was our personal treat while on Celebrity Silhouette. It offers up a 75-minute massage using a heated poultice to get into tight muscles followed up by soothing hand massages. It’s pure pleasure.

For clients who are interested in fitness over food during their stay, or who want to burn off the extra calories, suggest they hang out at the 19,000-sq.-ft. fitness center within the spa. It features the latest and greatest in cardio and fitness equipment. AquaClass guests also enjoy complimentary special programming and wellness classes that other guests can take, but must pay a fee. Classes include fitness choices, such as Tour de Cycle, a workout supporting Lance Armstrong’s LIVESTRONG Foundation; yoga; and chilates, which combines Pilates and meditation. Health and nutritional seminars include activities such as trivia, cooking and mixology, based on the best-selling book “Eat This, Not That!” and focus on taking control of health and wellness through simple choices. There are also acupuncture, boosting your metabolism (and lose more fat and boost your energy) and youthful skin seminars. And for those guests who want to get even more serious about fitness, certified personal trainers can create a customized program for them.
