More Relaxation Spaces
Beyond the spa, guests can discover numerous spaces on Celebrity Silhouette made for escaping. The Alcoves are eight cabanas located on deck near The Lawn Club (yes, that’s a “lawn” at sea) that are made for two to four guests and are available to rent. You can get themed picnic baskets and recline in the nearby hammocks and oversized Adirondack chairs. Indoors, The Hideaway, designed as an upscale treehouse, is a quiet place for reading a book. The Art Studio offers hands-on classes in drawing, painting, beading and culinary-themed classes (for an additional fee) as a way to relax and learn at the same time. We made beautiful quality beaded silver earrings during our time at the Art Studio, and the class was easily filled with aspiring artistes.
Simply walking the ship and taking in the beautiful spaces and Celebrity signature artwork also adds to the relaxing atmosphere of any Celebrity Silhouette sailing. With 1,443 staterooms and a capacity for 2,886 passengers, Celebrity Silhouette is one of Celebrity’s larger ships, but with its many public spaces divided into more intimate areas, it’s easy to find a cozy spot even beyond the established relaxation areas. For us, the challenge was staying away from the Gelato bar and making sensible choices among the decadent food within the 12 dining venues. Fortunately, the outdoor track did help burn off some of the gelato calories.
Celebrity Silhouette made its debut in 2011 and is currently sailing the Eastern and Southern Caribbean out of Cape Liberty, Bayonne, NJ, with 12-night sailings through mid-April. On April 22 it will have a 13-night transatlantic voyage to re-position for the summer in Europe with various itinerary offerings. It will spend the fall in the Holy Land, before returning on Dec. 1 to Fort Lauderdale, FL, for Caribbean cruises for winter 2012-13.
