The largest pilgrimage in the world, the Hindu religious festival Kumbh Mela—which translates to “Pot Fair”—travels through India on a 12-year cycle. From Jan. 14-27, 2013, Geringer Global Travel will embark upon 14-day Kumbh Fair itineraries that take your clients straight into the heart of the Hindu culture.

This upcoming festival will occur in Allahabad, India. As they travel along their journey, travelers will pass through Delhi, Haridwar, Agra and Kharajuraho, stopping to visit the spiritual hermitage Swargashram; to observe an aarti ceremony of ornate oil lamps floating down the river in Mathura; and to learn about the river bathing ceremonies for the purification of sin. The Kumbh Mela itself will feature doctrinal debates, devotional singing, mass feeding of the holy and the poor, and the ritual bathing of all people on the banks of the Ganges.

For detailed information, including a summary of the legend behind the Kumbh Mela, visit Geringer Global Travel’s Kumbh Fair itinerary description.
