4 New Hotels Opening This Spring

From the hills of Mallorca and the forests outside of Medellin to the historic streets of Rome and the bright lights of Hong Kong, many new hotels are popping up around the world with opening dates slated for this spring. Here is a sampling of new properties to keep on your radar.

4. Hotel de la Ville

Opening on May 23, 2019 in a location right above Rome’s Spanish Steps, the Hotel de la Ville will be one of the latest additions to the city’s luxury hotel landscape. Inspired by the era of the Grand Tour, the hotel marries 18th-century architecture and traditional design elements with contemporary luxury and new technology. Hotel de la Ville offers 104 guestrooms and suites, including a few signature suites with private terraces that lead out to panoramic views of Rome, plus a spa and six food and beverage offerings envisioned by a Michelin-starred chef.

3. Cannua

Cannua, a first-of-its-kind, 18-room boutique hotel set within a protected forest just 90 minutes outside of Medellin, Colombia, is scheduled to open in April 2019. Rooted in permaculture design principles and taking a holistic approach to sustainability, this 27-acre mountain-side property was constructed using sustainably-sourced bamboo and compressed-earth blocks produced on-site from the property’s own soil. Cannua will also utilize rainwater through its own on-site water treatment system and will implement a waste management system with the ultimate goal of being a zero waste property. The retreat will also plant two acres of organic gardens and food forests to supply its onsite restaurant, and willwork with local organic farmers for ingredients that can’t otherwise be produced on-site.

Accommodations for eco-conscious travelers staying at this retreat include eight private cabanas and 10 guestrooms all featuring views of the San Nicolas Valley. Guests can expect to indulge in morning yoga classes, spa treatments, hiking pre-Hispanic heritage trails, emabrking on exotic birdwatching expedition, and more. Other offerings include visits to a community farm and classes in flower arranging using homegrown blooms from the onsite garden.

2. Rosewood Hong Kong

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts will make its debut in its home city with the March 17, 2019 opening of the Rosewood Hong Kong located in Victoria Dockside on the Tsim Sha Tsui harborfront. Encompassing the largest accommodations in the city, the Rosewood Hong Kong features 322 guestrooms, 91 suites, and 18 signature suites. The property will also include eight distinct dining concepts, including contemporary Chinese tea house Holt’s Cafe, formal Cantonese restaurant The Legacy House, and DarkSide, a cocktail bar. Guests at this property will also find Rosewood’s signature Manor Club lounge complete with a host of personalized amenities, plus the first urban outpost of Asaya, Rosewood’s new, holistic wellness concept.

1. Finca Serena

Unico Hotels will debut its first property outside of Barcelona and Madrid with the opening of Finca Serena in Mallorca set for spring 2019. Located in the Pla de Mallorca, Finca Serena is a former farm turned luxury resort welcoming guests age 14 and older. The 100-acre estate features 25 guestrooms and suites nestled into the countryside among ancient olive groves and lemon trees. Cypresses and pines also share the land with fields of lavender, several varieties of fruit trees, and over 24 acres of newly planted indigenous grapes. The property also encompasses three vegetable gardens, which will be used to source the onsite Restaurant Jacaranda.

Wellness-minded travelers can take advantage of more than three miles of pathways around the estate and yoga classes led by the onsite wellness team. The property’s spa also features an indoor pool, fitness equipment by Technogym, and a sauna.
