There are so many things we love about the new Gran Destino Tower at Walt Disney World’s Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, it was hard to give a shout out to just three, but we reined ourselves in, and pinpointed these delights we are head over heels about. The tower, whose concept, from design to dining venues and everything in-between, is an homage to Spain and Disney’s short film, Destino, offers a tasteful, sophisticated decor and storytelling that even your most well-heeled clients will appreciate.
3. Rooms with a View
Walk into the guestrooms at the Gran Destino Tower—including the standard rooms—and you’ll want to run to the windows for the gorgeous views. The tower boasts 545 guestrooms, including 50 suites (44 750-sq.-ft. Deluxe Suites; four 1,110-sq.-ft. 1-Bedroom Suites; and two 1,875-sq.-ft. Presidential Suites). Beyond the fab views, the rooms are very spacious, feature barn-style doors separating living spaces from the bedroom—or if your clients stay in a standard room, for the bathroom door (they lock)—offer very comfortable king-sized beds, have beautiful Spanish-inspired tile work, and have Smart TVs featuring Disney On Demand….and so many other delights.
2. Speaking of Views…
Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort now features three bridges spanning the resort’s central lake, Lago Dorado. This is a more seamless way for guests to get around the resort (they no longer have to go around the entire lake) and there’s a great new eatery located at the nexus of these new pathways, Three Bridges Bar & Grill. Even in July, the outdoor dining venue gets the breeze from the lake and offers fabulous views of the new Tower.
1. Gaudi is in the Building
The Barcelona Lounge is one of the most beautiful spots in the resort—yes, the rooftop dining venues, Toledo restaurant and Dahlia Lounge are wondrous, but I felt right at home in the Barcelona Lounge (ok, my parents live there, so there’s that….). Located in the lower lobby, the Barcelona Lounge’s bar is an homage to the stunning architectural masterpieces created by Barcelona’s son, Gaudi, and offers gorgeous views over the lake. A must is seeing the space at nighttime when it’s all lit up.
