The Pelican Grand Beach Resort is a little unusual among Fort Lauderdale hotels as it not only lies a little to the north of where Las Olas meets the ocean and the iconic Elbo Room was spring break central in a bygone era, but handily it sits directly on the beachside rather than across busy A1A.

The styling of this Noble House property features Old Florida-style charm mixed with modern elegance. A row of white rocking chairs grace the verandah, offering relaxing views of the ocean and the 500-ft.-stretch of beach, while throughout the property period touches like the heavy crown moldings, and the old-fashioned ice cream parlor just off the lobby, set the tone.

The resort continues to make a name for itself with the recent unveiling of a new concept for its signature restaurant Ocean2000 where on the refined menu under the direction of head chef Todd Lough, traditional Florida seafood offerings are blended with a Latin influence. Dining is either in the elegant contemporary interior with ocean views or outside on the verandah.

With the option of ocean- or city-view guestrooms, guests have the best of both worlds. Accommodations also feature mini refrigerators, a microwave and high-speed Internet, as well as some offering a balcony and chairs overlooking the ocean. Travelers can also book an oceanfront queen or king suite offering prime views of the water with a balcony and separate sitting area.

While the resort is set in a quieter section of the beach, guests can easily explore Fort Lauderdale’s landmarks nearby, such as the 1920s botanical Bonnet House or the 22-block Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District.

This summer, the resort is offering Summer Savings rates at more than 45 percent off, starting at $159 per night, for stays now through Sept. 30. For more information, visit pelicanbeach.com.
