After completing a refurbishment, andBeyond Phinda Vlei Lodge is reopening this June in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal province.

The lodge’s fresh new interior design is inspired by the plantation style of KwaZulu-Natal’s sugar cane and pineapple barons. A library has been added to the guest areas, and a dining deck will be extended for covered al fresco dining with views of the adjoining wetland.

Phinda Vlei Lodge is an intimate, romantic, private safari destination, which overlooks the Reserve’s vlei (wetland) system on the edge of the sand forest. Its location offers guests changing game viewing from the comfort of their bed, shower, or private plunge pool. Each suite is positions for a prime view of the animals coming out to drink, as well as views of the panoramic vistas. Each morning and early evening the animals can be spotted at the vlei in what seems as a never-ending wildlife parade.

On property, guests can take part in day and night game drives, as well as walking safaris. Other Phinda adventures include Zulu village tours, Maputaland beach adventures, night turtle drives, scuba safaris, ocean safaris, and black rhino tracking on foot. Special safaris such as riding, photographic, rhino notching, tracking, walking, family, and private safaris, can also be booked. Room rates start at $808 pp per night.
