Fall Happenings in Vienna

This fall in Vienna the calendar is packed with festivals, exhibits and hotel openings perfect for your clients traveling to the Austrian capital.

Kunsthalle Wien Museumsquartier’s (Vienna’s exhibition venue at the MuseumsQuartier) new exhibit following its recent renovation is “Salon der Angst,” which focuses on the topic of fear. Running now through Jan. 12, 2014, the exhibit will feature paintings, installations and photos by artists such as Gerard Byrne, Florin Mitroi, Agnes Geoffray, Tobias Zielony, Ferdinand von Kessel and Jen Liu focusing on the topics of fear and terror in art.

For clients interested in modern music, the Wien Modern Festival, which runs from Oct. 24 through Nov. 15, will feature contemporary music at 21 venues throughout the city, including the Musikverein, Konzerthaus and Urania.

In hotel news, this month the Imperial Riding School Renaissance Vienna Hotel is unveiling its 339 fully renovated guestrooms. Located near Belvedere Palace in Vienna, Austria, and set in a former military riding school that was built in 1850, the hotel now features six floors of rooms outfitted with new carpet and wallpaper; high-speed Internet; flat-screen TVs; luxe bedding; and a large work space. Meanwhile, the Spanish Sol Melia Group is making its way into Vienna with the opening of ME Vienna this fall. The 255-room hotel will be located in the lower 15 floors of the tallest building in Austria—the 60-floor DC Tower 1 on the Danube, designed by Dominique Perrault. Opening at the end of October, the 133-room ibis Styles Wein City, part of Accor Hotels, will feature complimentary breakfast and Wifi, and is located by an underground line and tram line that takes travelers to the historic center and attractions like the Stephansdom, Hofburg and Opera.
