Hotel Update: Europe Edition

Hotel Castello di Casole in Tuscany.

From Stockholm to Tuscany, make sure you’re up to date when planning your client’s next vacation abroad with the latest hotel openings and renovations around Europe.

Sweden Stockholm’s Hotel J, a member of Design Hotels, recently completed several property enhancements, including 113 new guestrooms, a gym and The Club House restaurant.

Located adjacent to the original Hotel J, the property’s new Red Brick House houses the new guestrooms, each decorated with the same “American New England” theme found throughout the rest of the hotel. Guestrooms offer stunning views of the coast, while rooms on the top floor boast private terraces overlooking the water.

Another highlight of the renovations is The Club House, an a la carte restaurant led by chef Stefano Catenacci who has worked for the royal Swedish family. The restaurant offers an array of fresh seafood dishes such as soft shell crab and red snapper saltimbocca, as well as delicious desserts like black licorice whoopie pie. The Club House also features a lounge and bar, and will open an outdoor terrace that overlooks Stockholm’s scenic harbor next summer.

Italy Last month, Timbers Resorts announced the opening of the company’s Hotel Castello di Casole in Tuscany, slated for April 2, 2012.

Located within the heart of Castello di Casole on a 4,200-acre private estate in Tuscany once home to Italian nobility, Hotel Castello di Casole will feature 41 suites, each with custom-made Tuscan furnishings designed to complement the region’s landscape and history. Several of the hotel’s suites will also feature large private gardens and terraces with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking more than 100 acres of vineyards and lemon and olive trees.

During their stay, guests will have the option of two restaurants: Castello’s fine dining venue, Ristorante Tosca, will serve a range of local, Tuscan and Italian cuisine with an emphasis on homemade pasta using fresh local produce from the hotel’s gardens, and extra virgin olive oil produced on the estate; and Pazzia will feature a traditional wood burning pizza oven, an espresso bar and gelateria.

The hotel’s 5,400-sq.-ft. Essere Spa will feature seven treatment rooms, pools inspired by ancient Roman baths and a fitness facility and outdoor spa garden for yoga and Pilates classes.
