Silversea Cruises has unveiled three new Culinary Expedition Voyages for 2016 and 2017. The themed cruises take place aboard the all-suite, 132-passenger Silver Explorer and offer an array of complimentary culinary and wine events both on board and ashore. For example, there is a 14-day expedition along the Humboldt Current on South America’s west coast where guests have the opportunity to enjoy a pisco sour cocktail and dinner at one of Lima’s best restaurants; dine on a 3-course meal in the dining hall of a 16th century monastery in Peru; and sample vintage selections at a winery in Chile’s Limari Valley. On board, passengers can participate in culinary workshops and discussions hosted by Silversea’s culinary director Rudi Scholdis and invited guest chefs from the region. A Chilean wine expert will also be on board to share insights and lead wine tastings. This epicurean adventure departs Oct. 31 from Guayaquil and concludes in Valparaiso. Rates start at $12,850 pp and include a complimentary flight over the famous Nazca lines, where guests can catch an aerial view of the giant geoglyphs etched onto the arid Peruvian coastal plain.

Meanwhile, the Silver Explorer will journey north along the European Atlantic coast to Honfleur on an 11-day European itinerary departing Lisbon on May 20, 2017. Rates start at $5,715, with the early booking bonus, and includes ports of call in Portugal, Spain, France and Guernsey. While exploring picturesque harbors, medieval villages, and key historic sites, guests will have the opportunity to try a range of dishes from bite-sized pintxos in Bilbao, Spain to fresh oysters in Saint-Malo, France. The cruise will also feature cooking classes hosted by Scholdis and David Bilsland, who oversees Silversea’s L’Ecole des Chefs program. Silversea’s wine ambassador, Lawrence D’Almeida, food and wine expert James Robinson, and cheese specialist Tom Badcock will also be on hand for onboard enrichment activities. For complete voyage details, visit silversesa.com/expeditions/specialty-expeditions/culinary-expeditions.
