Collette has released its The Romantic Road and Fairy Tale Road itinerary for 2017. The 12-day tour explores the cultural capitals—Berlin, Hamburg and Munich—as well as the backroads of Germany and charming countryside. Highlights of the tour include a tour of Berlin and Munich’s famed landmarks with a local guide; a guided tour of Hamelin with a flute-playing “pied piper”; and a visit to the quaint medieval town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber; plus a tour of Neuschwanstein Castle, which Walt Disney used as inspiration to create Cinderella’s castle at Disney World and Sleeping Beauty’s castle in Disney Land; a trip to the Hanseatic town of Lubeck, famous for marzipan; and a Beatles tour in Hamburg.

Optional excursions are available in Wurzburg ($25 pp), where guests can get a glimpse into the life of royalty in 18th century Germany on an expert-led guided tour of the extravagant Wurzburg Residence palace, and Berlin ($55 pp), where guests make their way to Potsdam, the former home of Prussian kings, to hear stories of the exchange of prisoners between the former East Germany and Western Germany at the Glienicke Bridge and view the former palace of Frederick the Great. Rates start at $2,549 pp dbl, and include accommodations, tours and meals. For more information, visit gocollette.com.
