VisitEngland Invites Travelers to try Alternative Sports

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

There are less than six months remaining before the 2012 London Olympics, and all around England people are gearing up for some alternative sporting events of their own.

For example, this year marks the 567th annual Pancake Dash in Olney, Buckinghamshire, where since about 1445 housewives have been throwing pancakes and running 415-yard dashes through the city streets. In Glouchestershire, the 400th annual Cotswold Olimpicks will feature a shin-kicking event that’s not to be missed. Meanwhile, gravy wrestling continues to be a big hit at the relatively new 5th annual World Gravy Wrestling Championships in Bacup, Rossendale.
