On Saturday, July 16, Aqua Expeditions’ founder and CEO Francesco Galli Zugaro announced that an accidental explosion caused the luxury cruise line’s 12-suite Aqua Amazon vessel to sink during the ship’s regular Saturday supplying and turn-around. Aqua Expeditions has reported that no passengers were on board. Passengers who were scheduled to depart Saturday on the Aqua Amazon have been reassigned to the Aria Amazon and other ships. Metropolitan Touring Peru as well as other suppliers and hoteliers will be flexible with any necessary changes in the itineraries when re-booking guests to the Aria as the first option or to any of the other luxury cruises operating in the Peruvian Amazon.
