Big Five Tours & Expeditions heads to Guatemala and the Galapagos Islands this year on an adventure tour through Latin America.

The 11-day tour, Ancestor Volcanoes of Guatemala & the Galapagos, focuses on the countries’ cultures and natural history with in-depth sightseeing of the volcanoes.

“We paired Guatemala and the Galapagos for this journey using the theme of volcanoes because each country and their indigenous cultures have been profoundly impacted by the formation of these landscapes,” says Ashish Sanghrajka, president of Big Five. “Our guests will climb high and dive deep to experience a wide range of volcanic landscapes, and enjoy encounters with amazing wildlife.”

Throughout the 7-day stay in Guatemala, travelers will have the chance to experience Antigua, a World Heritage site with Baroque-style architecture and ruins of colonial churches. Guests will also hike up the Acatenango Volcano or scale the Pacaya Volcano, completing the experience with lunch and marshmallows roasted by volcanic steam. Travelers will also pass over the volcanoes via helicopter on the way to visit Lake Atitlan.

Then on the 4-night journey in the Galapagos, travelers will be able to dive or snorkel through the volcanic landscapes, explore Santa Cruz with a safari-style, private tented camping experience on two volcanic sinkholes, and hike to the rim of Sierra Negra, the largest volcano in the Galapagos, on Isabela.

Land-only rates start at $8,650 pp dbl. For more information, call (800) 244-3483 or visit bigfive.com.
