Did you know that Starwood Hotels & Resorts is the largest luxury hotel operator in the world? And that it has properties in more than 100 countries around the globe? As the global traveler continues to evolve, Starwood continues to expand its footprint, becoming an active part of more and more of the destinations sold by travel professionals.
Starwood has invested in destination education for its travel industry partners—with six destination modules now available to StarwoodPros. Exclusive to ProLearning graduates, these valuable resources continue to help Starwood’s best sellers better understand the destinations their clients want to explore.
Debuting this month is the very first ProLearning module dedicated to China. The focus is on Hainan, the country’s southernmost province and home to seven existing Starwood properties as well as five more to open by 2014. These include The Royal Begonia, A Luxury Collection Resort, Sanya (June 2012); Four Points by Sheraton Hainan, Sanya (July 2012); The Westin Haikou (December 2012); Sheraton Sanya Tufu Bay (2013); and The Westin Sanya Haitang Bay (2014). In fact, Starwood is the largest luxury and upper upscale international hotel operator in Hainan—and all of China. It is a destination that is important to Starwood and one that will soon be on the radar for many travel customers.
Existing ProLearning destination modules, all incorporating Starwood’s signature story selling examples and recommendations, have already been viewed by thousands of StarwoodPros. The Hawaii module focuses on the four islands of Oahu, the Big Island, Maui and Kauai, as well as the 11 Starwood resorts that call these islands home. The Caribbean module explores Aruba, the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, St. John and Cancun, highlighting six Starwood resorts in the region. The Mexico module includes Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico City and Cancun, while the Maldives module features Fesdu Island, home of the W Retreat and Spa, as well as Furanafushi Island, home of the Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa. Starwood’s Fiji module touches on its three properties that are part of a five-star integrated resort complex on Denarau Island. And the Bali module, launched just last month, delves into surfing, volcanoes, beach options and more at the four Starwood resorts located there.
Each ProLearning module can be explored one island at a time, and travel professionals can return to their last completed section at their own convenience. Certificates and a virtual concierge, which include additional resources, are provided for each module. StarwoodPros can look forward to even more destination modules popping up throughout the year.
