Commune Hotels + Resorts has announced plans to open a 125-room luxury resort, Thompson Playa del Carmen, in 2015 in downtown Playa del Carmen.
Located in the pedestrian area of downtown on Quinta Avenida (Fifth Avenue) near the beach, shops and restaurants, the new resort will feature an infinity rooftop pool with panoramic views of the town and ocean, as well as a world-class spa. In addition to the resort, the project will feature more than 300,000 sq. ft. of retail, cafes and restaurants.
Thompson Playa del Carmen will be the brand’s second resort in Mexico, following Thompson Los Cabos, currently in development stages.
