Five new hotels opened in Mexico.

Mexico Boutique Hotels added Acanto Boutique Hotel, the historic Casa Campo, the intimate Blue Sky, and the trendy Organico Boutique Hotel to its portfolio. Acanto Boutique Hotel is close to hotspots in Playa del Carmen, and allows guests to experience Riviera Maya. Guestrooms include a fully-equipped kitchen (guests can also request the concierge to pre-stock the kitchen with their favorites before their arrival); a flat-screen TV, satellite TV, and WiFi; and a terrace with a jacuzzi and grill. Casa de Campo, a historic property that’s about 270 years old, features spacious rooms in every category with whirlpool bathtubs. Casa de Campo is near the Cuernavaca Cathedral, the Borda Garden, the museum of Cortes Palace, theaters, restaurants and shopping. The Blue Sky in Tulum, a 9-room waterfront property, is located by a barrier reef, making the sea calm and ideal for snorkeling and kayaking. The Organico Boutique Hotel in Ajusco gives travelers an escape from the city with its views of mountains and pine trees. Each cabin has a fireplace; however, each are unique in decor and layout. Here, guests will be in a natural reserve where they can go horseback riding, hiking, or practice yoga or motocross.

Matlali Hotel opened this June in Banderas Bay, which is north of Puerto Vallarta, adjacent to the traditional fishing village of La Cruz de Haunacaxtle. The 40 private villa-style guestrooms in this boutique hotel offer guests four different styles to choose from, as well as fully-equipped kitchens, ocean and mountain views, and separate living and dining spaces.

The villas range from the 470-sq.-ft. Rolling Hill Junior Suites to the 3,260-sq.-ft Presidential Villa. They feature a contemporary beach design with brightly colored and geometrically designed furnishings, luxurious linens, marble floors, and deep teal and light cream wall colors combined with stained wood and matted rope rugs. The hotel is also near Punta Mita where guests can visit for a round of golf, or they can head to Puerto Vallarta for shopping or nightlife entertainment.

The hotel features the Raixes Restaurant, a palapa-style dining venue with open air views; the Matalali Club House offering snacks and cocktails by the two infinite pools and jacuzzis; and the full-service Makawe Spa with a steam room, a plunge pool, and six treatment rooms; as well as catamaran sailing, hiking, climbing, kayaking, surfing, fishing, and many more outdoor activities. Rates start at $220 per night dbl.
